Homemade hibiscus jam
Hibiscus flowers are suitable for numerous culinary preparations, because no one can resist their fruity and tangy taste ! Today, we are sharing with you a jam recipe made with the red flowers, but know that you can also prepare it with the white ones ! Without further ado, here's what you'll need:
Ingredients
- 5 cups of red or white hibiscus flowers. Both options are available in our online store!
- 3 cups of water
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
Material
- 1 saucepan
- 1 blender
- 1 wooden spatula or 1 whisk
- Sterilized jam jars
Preparation
- Rinse the hibiscus flowers in cold water
- Repeat two more times
- Put the flowers and the water in the pot
- Boil the mixture for 10 min
- Let it cool(to not to burn yourself)
- Pass the mixture into the blender until you get the consistency you like for jams
- Transfer the paste obtained to the pan
- Add the sugar and lemon juice
- Cook the mixture on medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring continuously
- Poor the mixture into the jars
- Let it cool to room temperature
- Refrigerate the jars
- Wait 24 hours before eating(it will take a couple a hours to get the right texture)
